Gaza Flotilla

One of the core group writes of the deaths in international waters..........

"Any one of us could have been among their number and a gesture to identify with them and pay our respects should be made locally. Events are still unfolding re the flotilla tragedy, with the Irish boat approaching Gaza and other criticism of the Israeli action coming in from the international community."

Please can we have your comments and ideas.

Disinvestment

BPJG have been pressing Dorset County Pension Fund to disinvest from the arms industry. They have been telling us that they have to do this, it is their fiduciary responsibility.

As a result of a whinge sent with my council tax payment, I received an email from them that included the following edited paragraph:

"I thought you might be interested in the attached report (no longer attached) that we took to the last Investment Committee meeting in February, concerning Socially Responsible Investments (SRI). The report does not cover arms investing specifically, but looks at the whole area of SRI, and describes the different investment approaches. The report was received and the issues debated, but whilst the Committee were interested, they did not wish to make any changes as a result."

For me this represents a tiny step forward.
